Beeping from your Nexus is normal and is how the hearing aid communicates volume changes, program changes, and limit warnings. Unexpected or continuous beeping may signal a problem.

Normal beep patterns

  • Single beep when adjusting volume — confirms each volume step up or down.
  • Triple beep (Beep-Beep-Beep) when adjusting volume — you have reached the maximum or minimum volume level.
  • 1 to 4 beeps when switching programs — indicates which program is now active (1 = Normal, 2 = Restaurant, 3 = Outdoor, 4 = Music).

If beeping seems unexpected or continuous

  1. Check whether you are accidentally pressing a button. Both the plus (+) and minus (−) buttons change volume and programs when held for different durations.
  2. Replace the battery with a fresh Zinc-Air A13 battery. A dying battery can cause erratic behavior.
  3. Open and firmly close the battery door to ensure the battery is properly seated and the hearing aid restarts cleanly.
  4. Clean the microphone area to make sure nothing is pressing against it.
