Nexus uses a Zinc-Air A13 battery with an expected life of approximately 200 hours under normal use. Several factors can reduce that runtime.
Common reasons for short battery life
- Battery was not fully activated before use — Zinc-Air batteries need oxygen to work. After removing the sticker, wait at least 3 to 5 minutes before inserting the battery so it can fully activate.
- High volume or active programs — Using higher volume levels or programs like Music uses more power than Normal mode.
- Battery quality or age — Old or lower-quality batteries drain faster. Use a fresh battery from sealed packaging.
- Battery not removed during storage — If the battery door is left closed when the hearing aid is not in use, the battery continues to drain. Always open the battery door when storing the hearing aid.
Tips to get the most from each battery
- Remove the sticker and wait 3 to 5 minutes before inserting a new battery.
- Open the battery door when the hearing aid is not in use.
- Store spare batteries at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
- Do not store batteries near medications or metal objects — they can be mistaken for pills and are dangerous if swallowed.
