One limiting factor would be the physical dimensions of the devices themselves. Yes, invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aids are great and very discreet, but at the cost of real estate.
The smallest Bluetooth module currently available on the market measures:
- 3.5mm x 3.5mm x 1.0mm
- Requires ~12mm² mounting footprint
The Core One measures:
- 13.7mm x 6.8mm
Core One hearing aids are strategically packaged to offer the most performance and robust feature set given is small form factor. Additional considerations, physical limitations aside, would be the additional power draw needed for the Bluetooth module.
