Feedback/Whistling/Screeching Sounds
Are you hearing feedback, whistling or screeching noise from your Beacon? Here are some ways to help alleviate that.
Make sure you are wearing your hearing aids correctly
There can be a few reasons why you could be experiencing unpleasant noise from you hearing aid. It can be from how the hearing aid is placed in your ear, blocked or loose tubing, ear wax buildup, the components can be worn out or damaged to incorrect programming. Here are some ways to check these issues.
-
Insert the Dome Correctly: Gently push the ear dome into the ear canal and ensure its a snug and comfortable, without any gaps or pain.
- Place the Hearing Aid Behind the Ear: Loop the main body of the hearing aid over the top of your ear. The device should rest comfortably behind your ear without pulling or feeling loose.
- Check Tubing Connection: Make sure the tubing connecting the ear dome to the hearing aid is secure and untwisted. The tubing should not be too tight or too loose.
- Secure the Device (If needed): If you are engaging in physical activities or are concerned about the hearing aid slipping, you can use clips, cords, or retention bands to help secure the device behind the ear
- Perform a Feedback Check: Once the hearing aid is place, check for any feedback by moving your hand near your ear. If there's whistling, adjust the fit or consult your audiologist.
Following these steps will help ensure your BTE hearing aid is worn properly, improving comfort and performance.
